Iso2God Alternatives: Every Real Tool in the ISO ↔ GOD Ecosystem
There is no single “Iso2God alternative” — there is an ecosystem, and the right alternative depends on which part of the job you need to change: a different platform, a graphical front-end for the command-line tool, the reverse direction, original-Xbox images, on-console conversion, or managing content once it exists. This roundup covers only real, verified projects from the Iso2God family and its neighbours — no invented tools, no download-portal filler. Everything here feeds games to modded consoles (JTAG/RGH/BadUpdate-class) or emulators; none of it makes a stock Xbox 360 play converted GODs.
Downloads for the main tools are collected on our download page.
The short answer
| If you need… | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A GUI on Windows with padding modes and FTP | Iso2God r4dius fork (v1.6.0) | The maintained continuation of the original GUI |
| Linux / macOS, or scripting | iso2god-rs (v1.8.1) | Native cross-platform CLI, MIT, hash-verified releases |
| A modern GUI that also takes XEX folders | iso2god-next (v1.1.1) | GTK4 GUI built on rs — brand new, best tested on Linux |
| A friendlier face on the rs CLI | iso2god-redux or iso2god.app | Community front-ends wrapping iso2god-rs |
| FTP-to-USB conversion for BadUpdate/RGH setups | iso2god2usb (evilpressure fork) | A fork aimed at USB targets instead of console FTP |
| GOD back to ISO | God2Iso (raburton) v1.0.5 | The reverse direction — see the dedicated guide |
| Original-Xbox XISO create/extract/rewrite | extract-xiso (XboxDev) | The maintained OG-Xbox image tool |
| Conversion on the console itself | NXE2GOD | Turns NXE disc installs into GODs in place |
| Managing GOD/XBLA/DLC on the PC | 360 Content Manager | PC-side STFS/SVOD content management and licence unlocking |
iso2god-rs — the cross-platform core
If the word “alternative” means “the same conversion without Windows and without a GUI”, this is it: iliazeus’s Rust CLI (MIT) converts 360 and OG Xbox ISOs to GOD on Windows, Linux (x86_64/ARM64) and macOS (Intel/Apple Silicon), with per-asset SHA-256 digests on GitHub that we have verified. Its limits define what the other tools add: CLI only, ISO → GOD only, no XEX-folder input, no FTP, and a --trim that trims the end of the image rather than offering the GUI’s padding modes. Full comparison: Iso2God vs iso2god-rs.
iso2god-next — the new GUI successor
Forked from iso2god-rs and released in October 2026 (v1.1.1, 2026-10-22), iso2god-next adds what upstream rs deliberately omits: a GTK4 desktop GUI with a queue and drag-and-drop, direct conversion of extracted game folders (default.xex / default.xbe) — a capability neither the classic GUI nor rs upstream has — plus FTP upload to Aurora, Freestyle Dash, XeXMenu or any FTP server. Be honest with yourself about its age, though: it is days old, its own release notes say the Windows and macOS builds have had little testing on real machines, and the Linux AppImage is the supported build. News-worthy and promising; not yet the default recommendation.
Front-ends for iso2god-rs: redux and iso2god.app
Two community projects put a window around the rs engine for people who want its cross-platform core without a terminal: iso2god-redux (by murilopereirame), which describes itself plainly as “a frontend for the command-line tool iso2god-rs”, and iso2god.app (by gutierri), a GUI tool for converting Xbox and 360 ISOs to GOD built on the same foundation. Both are MIT-licensed and actively pushed to in the last year. A third wrapper, iso2god-rs-gui, also exists. What you get from any of them is rs’s behaviour — ISO → GOD, end-trim semantics — with buttons; the engine’s limits still apply.
iso2god2usb — the BadUpdate-era fork
The iso2god2usb fork (by evilpressure) takes the classic Iso2God in a different direction: adding FTP-to-USB targets aimed at BadAvatar / BadUpdate / RGH setups, where the destination is a USB drive rather than a console’s internal storage over the network. If your modded console workflow is USB-based — increasingly common with the BadUpdate-class exploits — this fork exists precisely for that shape of problem, where the stock GUI assumes an FTP destination.
The reverse and the neighbours
- God2Iso (raburton), v1.0.5, CC BY-SA 4.0 — GOD → ISO rebuilds for emulators, extractors and archival. Dormant since 2023 but the standard route; full guide: God2Iso: GOD back to ISO. Similarly-named variants exist, but their quality is unverified — we recommend only this one.
- extract-xiso (XboxDev) — maintained create/extract/rewrite for original-Xbox XISO images; the tool OG-Xbox sources flow through before (or instead of) GOD conversion. Compared in extract-xiso vs Iso2God; the older name “exiso” in tutorials refers to a different, legacy codebase.
- NXE2GOD — runs on the console and converts existing NXE disc installs into GODs in place; no PC or ISO involved. Compared in NXE2GOD vs Iso2God.
- 360 Content Manager — the PC-side companion after conversion exists: manages STFS/SVOD content, copies to USB/FATX drives and unlocks GOD/XBLA/DLC licences. It is a content manager, not a converter — the ConsoleMods wiki’s preferred application for that side of the workflow.
What is deliberately not on this list
Anything we could not verify exists as a real project with a real home is excluded — including the many same-named repositories that exist only as download bait, and any tool whose name appears only on download portals. If a program is not in the verified set above, we would rather say “unverified” than pad a roundup. Also excluded by category: save/profile modding suites such as Horizon are not ISO↔GOD converters at all, however often listicles file them as such.
The lineage in one view
The family tree explains the overlaps. The original Iso2God (Team 360h, 2010, final v1.3.6) was continued two ways: by decompilation, as the r4dius GUI fork (now v1.6.0), and by re-implementation, through the period iso2god-cli project into iliazeus’s iso2god-rs. Everything else hangs off those two branches: iso2god-next and the redux / iso2god.app front-ends build on rs; iso2god2usb forks the classic GUI line toward USB targets. God2Iso, extract-xiso, NXE2GOD and 360 Content Manager are not descendants at all — they are neighbours that handle the reverse direction, the neighbouring console’s images, the on-console route and post-conversion management respectively. When a download portal presents some other version number or author as “the original, updated”, it is blurring exactly this tree — 1.5.0 and 1.6.0, for example, are fork releases, not Team 360h updates.
That lineage is also the practical shortlist: pick your branch by platform and interface (GUI fork for Windows, rs for everywhere else), then add neighbours only for the specific jobs they own. A setup containing the GUI fork or rs, God2Iso for the way back, and extract-xiso if you touch OG Xbox images covers every verified workflow this site documents — anything beyond that is specialisation, not necessity.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Iso2God alternative overall?
For most people, iso2god-rs: it is maintained, cross-platform, open source and hash-verifiable. If you specifically need a window, use the r4dius GUI fork on Windows or a front-end such as iso2god-redux elsewhere.
Which alternative converts extracted XEX folders?
Only iso2god-next, among the tools listed — it accepts default.xex / default.xbe folders directly. Upstream iso2god-rs and the classic GUI fork are ISO-only.
Is iso2god-next safe to make my main tool?
It is real and open source, but it launched in October 2026 and its non-Linux builds are lightly tested by its own author’s account. Try it; keep rs or the GUI fork as your known-good route.
Can any alternative run games on a stock Xbox 360?
No. Every converter here produces GODs with an unlocked licence, which requires a modded console or an emulator. That is a property of the format, not a missing feature.
